Sessions can be forked from the sidebar and administrators can now set up an organization-managed Databricks connector that members link with their own accounts. More disk writing commands now require confirmation before Droid runs them, and sessions default to medium autonomy instead of off when no choice has been made.
Copilot code review now shows an overview comment grouping findings into open, resolved since last review, and previously missed, and auto-resolves its own comments with a resolution reason of Won't Fix or Incorrect based on subsequent commits. Accepting an eligible batch of suggestions now generates a commit title and optional description.
The generally available REST API can now create, update, and read the "Restrict code coverage" repository ruleset option, which previously required the web UI. The rule requires GitHub Code Quality enabled and code coverage uploads configured, and is available on GitHub Enterprise Cloud and GitHub Team but not GitHub Enterprise Server.
New efficiency, balance, and intelligence tiers let Copilot weigh cost, quality, and response time in auto model selection across VS Code, Copilot CLI, and the Copilot app, and a Sentry canvas in the Copilot app moves from crash report to validated fix and pull request. Also new: code review resolves addressed comments, Copilot Business and Enterprise usage metrics for the VS Code Agents window are generally available, and Copilot can suggest repository custom property values.
Gemini 3.7 Flash, GPT-5.5, GPT-5.4, GPT-5.4 mini, GPT-5 mini, and Grok 4.5 are deprecated across all Copilot experiences on October 19, 2026, with Gemini 3.8 Flash, GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-5.6 Luna, and Grok 4.6 as the suggested alternatives. Under default model enablement the alternatives are automatically enabled for Copilot Enterprise and Copilot Business unless an administrator turned off the global default or explicitly disabled the model.
A new "Read and write (stage only)" permission for npm granular access tokens lets automation submit versions via npm stage publish for maintainer 2FA review, while rejecting direct npm publish attempts even when the token is configured to bypass 2FA. The change is opt-in and leaves existing tokens untouched, but npm is targeting January 2027 to remove direct publishing through bypass-2FA tokens.
