Slack's SDKs converge while Notion raises its floor and Figma extends its reach
October 26 – November 1, 2026
Slack brought its Node and Python SDKs into alignment around canvases content, connection-auth APIs, and a new AuthProviderBlock. Notion's JavaScript SDK pulled context into Figma's agent and made generative plugin edits versioned, while Figma's Code Connect CLI and Notion's SDK both pushed developers toward newer tooling.

Slack's SDKs move in lockstep
The most consequential thread this week is coordination: Slack's three developer libraries converged on the same feature set within days of each other, which means an app built against one language now has a much easier time porting its logic to another. The Python SDK landed canvases content methods and admin user expiration, including canvases.getContent, a channel_id on canvas creation, and optional document_content, plus admin.users.getExpiration and the AuthProviderBlock layout block. The Node SDK added the same canvas content method and connection-auth endpoints, along with manifest types for code channels and user connections, and a small but meaningful correctness fix: image alt text passed to files.uploadV2 is now saved via alt_txt, with the old alt_text field deprecated. Types-only consumers got their own update, with AuthProviderBlock and user_connection event interfaces on the types package, plus new button fields for agent prompts and visibility scoping.
Socket Mode users had a rougher week and got real relief. The Node SDK's socket-mode fix closes an orphaned close-handshake timer that could fire a false "peer did not complete the close" warning after disconnect and trigger a duplicate reconnect — a nasty failure mode for long-running bots. The same patch keeps malformed Events API payloads, including app_rate_limited, available to generic slack_event listeners so they can still be acknowledged. On the desktop side, Slack pushed a security update worth installing promptly alongside a maintenance release of fixes too minor to itemize.
Notion raises its Node floor and quiets page writes
Notion's JS SDK shipped two releases that matter for different reasons. The bigger change is a breaking one: Node.js 22 or later is now required, so anyone on an older runtime needs to upgrade before taking the update — plan that into your maintenance window rather than discovering it in CI. The upside is a cleaner package: more types, including RichTextItemRequest, ClientOptions, and PropertyFilter, import directly from the package root, and webhook verification now goes through globalThis.crypto.subtle. The other release adds silent page writes via notifications.mode, letting integrations create or update pages without pinging anyone, alongside a Notion-flavored Markdown v2 preview and a fix so extractDatabaseId returns the database ID from bare database links instead of the side-peek page ID. The Notion app itself only saw routine bug and performance fixes.
Figma widens its context and adds safety nets
Figma's week was about bringing outside context in and keeping your work recoverable. Google Drive can now connect to the Figma agent and Make on all plans, so existing file context flows into Figma without a manual import step. On Organization and Enterprise plans, teams can publish Weave tools internally, turning Weave from a personal tool into shared infrastructure. And generative plugins and shaders now get version history, with each edit preserving prior versions to revisit or restore — a quiet but important safety net for anyone iterating on AI-assisted tooling. A maintenance update rounded out the week.
Elsewhere, Figma's Code Connect CLI dropped its interactive setup wizard in favor of the figma-code-connect skill for AI coding agents, and fixed traversal and instance lookups to return layers and first matches in layer order. Linear Mobile shipped minor fixes, the week's smallest ripple.
