Allocation profiling by default and a major JavaScript SDK overhaul

Profiling and tracing defaults shift in the Datadog tracers

Datadog's JavaScript tracer had the heaviest week, and the headline change is that allocation profiling and the automatic OOM heap limit now run by default, with remote configuration able to turn profiling on or off without a redeploy. The same line of work brought Postgres.js and Supabase tracing into APM, DBM propagation for Postgres, prompt management and gen_ai span attributes for LLM Observability, and dynamic Auto Test Retries across Jest, Mocha, Vitest, Cypress, Playwright, Cucumber, and WebdriverIO. Teams still pinned to the older major line get the same profiling defaults plus the Postgres.js and Supabase integrations and LLM prompt management, along with fixes for oracledb connection strings and oversized Dynamic Instrumentation payloads.

On the Python side, Datadog reverted a default it had just changed: OTEL context propagation is off again until a Linux-native memory leak is resolved, a reversal that landed across all three maintained lines. The 4.x releases also stop abandoned streamed LLM requests from leaving spans unfinished — a leak that grew memory in long-running web workers — and fix Auto Test Retries skipping pytest-timeout thread-mode tests that terminate pytest-xdist workers. Standalone-mode traces now respect the one-trace-per-minute sampling limit and the billing opt-out metric, and enabling LLM Observability alongside a disabled APM tracer no longer discards every trace. The oldest maintained line picked up the same OTEL context reversal plus a fix for pytest-xdist sessions on shallow Git checkouts that wasted time unshallowing and could time out during collection. The Agent itself shipped a narrow fix for missing log source fields in public inventory metadata, covering Windows Event Log queries, processing options, and multiline settings.

Sentry's JavaScript SDK reaches v11

Sentry capped the week's churn with the v11 major release of its JavaScript SDKs, whose stated goal is better OpenTelemetry compatibility and integrations that work the same way across Node.js, Cloudflare, Bun, and Deno through shared runtime and build-time instrumentation. Span streaming and more permissive data collection become the default, browser.navigation.type now reports the same values as web-vitals, and the webpack plugin requires webpack 5.1 or newer. The same work landed as a release candidate a day earlier, and the general availability announcement points teams at the v10-to-v11 migration guide before they upgrade.

The 10.x line stayed busy up to the end, rejecting non-POST requests to the managed tunnel route for TanStack Start, stopping unhandled rejections from leaking on aborted Vercel AI streams and enforcing a flush timeout across the Cloudflare Workflow lifecycle, and capturing telemetry from untraced Durable Object RPC calls including namespaces returned by jurisdiction(). Sentry's Python SDK added a Mistral AI integration and a finer-grained data_collection option that takes precedence over send_default_pii. On the alerting side, one alert can now fire on issues from every project — including projects created later — so new services no longer require hand-editing a project list.

RUM configurability and faster log structuring

Datadog's browser SDK shipped a full Salesforce RUM bundle and reworked action names to prefer anchor and role="link" text over ancestor ARIA labels. That pairs with RUM Remote Configuration, which lets teams change sampling rates, privacy settings, event tracking, and app attributes from the UI without shipping frontend code — a meaningful shift for mobile teams whose changes otherwise wait on app store review. RUM and Product Analytics also extended to Shopify checkout and Salesforce Experience Cloud through each platform's supported extension points.

Logs got easier to query with Tap to Parse, which reads sample logs, separates stable structure from variable values, and generates a reviewable parser, now generally available in the Log Explorer and Log Pipelines. Datadog's MCP Server moved Code Execution to general availability, letting agents run sandboxed JavaScript against multiple Datadog APIs and return only the evidence they need. Dash0 added two operational controls: a dataset setting that redacts cardholder data before storage, keeping the first six and last four digits and reporting scan and redaction counts as metrics, and a Forecast tab that projects full-cycle spend against real tiers broken down by SKU and dataset. Axiom rounded out the week with a ⌘K Command Menu for jumping to datasets, dashboards, and monitors without leaving the keyboard.
