Require explicit consent for Take Notes with Gemini, recordings, and transcripts in Google Meet

We’re introducing a new feature that allows administrators to require explicit consent from meeting participants before automatic note-taking, recording, and/or transcription begins. With this update, admins can ensure that participants on supported devices must actively agree to be recorded, be transcribed, or have notes enabled.

Getting started

• **Admins: **This feature will be OFF by default and can be enabled at the domain, OU, or group level. You can find these settings in the Admin console Visit the Help Center to learn more.

• **End users: **There is no end user setting for this feature. Visit the Help Center to learn more.

Rollout pace

• Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains: Gradual rollout (up to 15 days for feature visibility) starting on May 5, 2026
