Welcome to Patch Notes! In this series, we comb through the newest changes in performance, reliability, responsiveness, usability, and general bug-squishing we’ve done to make Discord better.
If you discover an issue of your own, check out our Bimonthly Bug Megathread on the community-run r/DiscordApp subreddit. Tell us what’s been bothering you, and our Engineering team will be more than happy to check it out.
All fixes listed below have been committed and merged, but may still be rolling out to individual platforms at the time of this post.
Highlights
- We've shipped another portion of our User Settings redesign:
- Activity is now Games & Apps
- Content & Social is now Messaging Permissions
- Related settings, such as Authorized Apps/Connections and OS-specific pages/keybinds, have been consolidated for clarity.
- We've made language and style updates across several settings pages, including Data & Privacy and Activity Privacy.
- We upgraded our Desktop client to using Electron 42, which aside from general maintenance best practices on our end, yielded some incremental improvements to CPU usage of our app.
General
Desktop
- Resolved an issue on Desktop where changing your email could fail after completing a CAPTCHA, leaving you unable to update your email address.
- Fixed a bug on Desktop where having the overlay enabled could turn your entire client for certain games black when tabbed out.
- Fixed an issue on Desktop where the user profile popout would resize and jitter right after opening when game data loaded in. It seemed to want to pop out even further.
- Fixed a bug on Desktop where previewing a color theme and then exiting the preview would permanently change your default theme instead of reverting to the one you had before.
- Fixed a bug on Desktop where the overlay's chat widget couldn't be dragged to reposition it when a server was selected.
- Fixed a bug on Desktop where opening a game with activity detection turned off would clear your playing status for another detected game that was still running in the background.
- Fixed a bug on Desktop where switching themes would stop working after opening the custom theme editor, requiring a restart before your selection would apply.
- Resolved an issue on Desktop where selecting a server in the user profile editing dropdown sometimes didn't work and the list would jump back to your current selection.
- Fixed an issue on Desktop where scrolling through a long dropdown list, like the server selector or the role permissions selector in channel settings, would sometimes snap you right back to the top.
- Resolved an issue on Desktop where clicking a valid server invite after hitting the server limit showed an "invalid or expired" error, even after leaving one of your servers to make room.
- Fixed an issue on Desktop where the option to view someone's main profile was missing from the overflow menu when they had a per-server private profile.
- Resolved a bug on Desktop where the tooltip arrow on the wishlist coachmark wasn't centered on the wishlist button.
- Resolved an issue on Desktop where the Xbox Game Pass coachmark popover appeared misaligned
