Copilot Memory supports user preferences for Pro, Pro+ users

Copilot Memory now supports user-level preferences in early access for Copilot Pro and Copilot Pro+ users.

Copilot can now store stated or inferred personal preferences about how you like to interact with it. These preferences are available for use in future Copilot interactions across Copilot experiences. Over time, Copilot adapts to the way you work, automatically delivering results that fit your style and standards.

What’s changing

Previously, Copilot Memory only stored information at the repository level. Today, Copilot Memory can also capture personal preferences that apply to you rather than the repository.

This means your preferences can follow you wherever you work, across all your repositories and Copilot agents, without affecting other users in the same repository.

Copilot Memory with user-level preferences can help Copilot remember things like:

  • Your preferred commit style.

  • How you like pull requests to be structured.

  • Your communication and tone preferences.

Managing user memories

You can review and delete Copilot Memory’s user-level preferences in your personal Copilot Memory settings.

Get started

Copilot Pro and Pro+ users can enable Copilot Memory by navigating to their personal Copilot settings and turning on Copilot Memory.
