Vercel CDN now respects cache-control headers from external origins by default
New Vercel projects will honor cache-control headers by default when proxying requests to external origins, starting April 6th.
What's changing:
- For new projects, Vercel's CDN automatically respects upstream
Cache-Control,CDN-Cache-Control, andVercel-CDN-Cache-Controlheaders - Use Cache Tags (
Vercel-Cache-Tagheader) from origins to purge cached content - Existing projects can opt in from the project dashboard
- Opt out of caching for specific paths by setting
x-vercel-enable-rewrite-cachingheader to0
Review upstream cache headers before April 6th for new projects proxying to external origins.
