## Overview

Recently shipped Val Town Access, one-click restricted access for internal tools, and `AGENTS.md` support across vals, users, and orgs.

**Val Town Access locks a val down to your team.** Restrict any val to your team, a handful of people, or an email domain — no source changes, existing vals and URLs keep working, and Val Town handles sessions and identity. Agents can flip the switch too.

![Admin interface for Val Town Access](https://imagedelivery.net/iHX6Ovru0O7AjmyT5yZRoA/c6d1911d-aaae-41b1-c124-2bd64ce81900/public)

**Agent instructions now follow your code.**
- An `AGENTS.md` inside a val is read automatically whenever Townie opens that val.
- Standing personal preferences live in a `.config` val, editable at `val.town/settings/preferences`.
- Orgs share instructions the same way, under Settings > Preferences.
- The MCP server surfaces all of it to any agent, not just Townie.

**Docs and discovery were rebuilt on the platform itself.**
- docs.val.town is now written and hosted on Val Town, replacing the Astro+Cloudflare site.
- A new `/discover` page collects templates, staff picks, and integrations.
- Townie's default model is now DeepSeek V4 Flash, roughly 100x cheaper than Opus.

**MCP remains the front door.** Every val homepage shows a copyable command for loading the MCP server into Claude Code, and the first-party plugin bundles MCP and platform Skills into a single `npx plugins add val-town/plugins` install for Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. Townie's Slow Mode keeps the agent asking questions at human pace instead of looping.

**Older threads.** Scoped blob storage isolates blobs per val rather than per account. Auth moved from Supabase to Clerk to Better Auth. SDK releases `v3.9.0`–`v3.13.0` added headers via environment variables and redacted API-key values from debug logs.
