Hydrogen 2026-10 is generally available and now works with any JavaScript framework — add the library to your stack instead of replatforming.

**Agentic commerce runs through Shop MCP.**
- One connection at `mcp.shop.com` gives agents 17 tools to search Shopify Catalog, build carts, and complete Shop Pay checkout; search needs no API key.
- Checkout MCP and Cart MCP now pass UCP buyer consent choices back to the shop, and compare-at prices reach agents as `list_price`.
- Shop users still get faster checkout, cross-device carts, and one-tap sign-in.
- Deprecated: the Global Catalog REST API stops serving traffic **November 2, 2026** — migrate to Global Catalog MCP.

**Canvas and Sidekick reach further.** Canvas lays every store page out in one infinite workspace. Sidekick now also answers questions inside the checkout and accounts editor, and Analytics gained editable annotations plus three purchase-order reports.

**Fulfillment got batches and automation.**
- Group up to 250 fulfillments into batches, then pick, print, and pack together with reorderable, assignable steps.
- Shopify Flow buys shipping labels automatically for orders matching your conditions.
- DHL labels are now available from the Netherlands and Poland; UK merchants can offer Royal Mail pickup points at checkout.

**Returns, policies, and languages.** Return window overrides apply per market, collection, product, or variant, with the shortest match winning. Return, shipping, and legal policies can now generate automatically. Admin and storefronts support Arabic, Urdu, and Hebrew.

**Builder notes.** Shopify AI Toolkit's `shopify app security check` scans apps for common vulnerabilities before release, and Next Gen Events is generally available in 2026-10. POS extensions on 2026-10 reject unconfirmed cart writes and return percentage discounts as percentages rather than money — update that logic. Metafield declarations need `owner_type` from 2027-01.
