Nuxt 4.6 made the server layer framework-agnostic with `nuxt/server`, rebuilt typed `$fetch`, and added sessions alongside a v4 CLI.

**Nuxt 4.6 decoupled the server and refreshed `$fetch`.** `nuxt/server` lets apps target non-Nitro servers, typed `$fetch` was rebuilt, and sessions, Vue Vapor support, and new dev error pages arrive together. Patch releases through `4.6.2` have followed.

**Nuxt CLI v4 turns `nuxt dev` into a dashboard.**

- Interactive terminal UI showing URLs, startup progress, and keyboard shortcuts
- Panels for error logs, routes, and network requests
- Startup and build timing breakdowns, including per-module setup cost, plus why the dev server reloaded or restarted
- A `.nuxt/` lock file so a second `nuxt dev` — one started by an agent, say — takes over or defers to yours

**Nuxt 4.5 rebuilt the build layer.** Vite 8 and Rspack 2 land, the Rspack builder gets a new Rsbuild-powered pipeline, and experimental SSR streaming arrives alongside stable error codes, a `useLayout` composable, and named views. Opt in early to Nuxt 5 breaking changes with `future.compatibilityVersion: 5`.

**Security release: upgrade now.** `v4.5.1` and `v3.21.10` close server-side RCE and unauthorized component instantiation via server island props, a route-rule authorization bypass, server component DoS, and cross-user payload disclosure on cached pages. Refresh your lockfile for the critical dev-only RCE fixed in `@nuxt/devtools` 3.3.1, and purge CDN or edge caches if you use `cache`, `swr`, or `isr` route rules — a leaked `_payload.json` may already be cached upstream. Nuxt v3 reached end-of-life with `v3.21.11`; upgrade to v4.
