## Overview

Kimi CLI shipped a dead-end streak force-stop, plugin `.zip` URL installs, and a project rename to Kimi Code, alongside shell and core refinements.

**Successor branding and upgrade path added.** The project was renamed to Kimi CLI in documentation, with guidance added pointing users toward the Kimi Code CLI successor.

**Windows shell rewritten to Git Bash.** The Windows backend switched from PowerShell to Git Bash, giving Windows users POSIX semantics matching Linux and macOS behavior. Hallucinated CMD-style `2>nul` redirects are rewritten to `2>/dev/null` to prevent spurious file creation.

**Attention and permission modes separated.** `--yolo` bypasses permission approvals while the user remains present; `--afk` handles away-from-keyboard sessions by auto-dismissing questions. Flags are independent in the status bar.

**Alias and session commands refined.** Slash command alias resolution added — `/h`, `?`, and `status` now resolve to canonical commands. `/clear` starts a fresh session like `/new`. Welcome tips display styled text, and the `/usage` alias registration was corrected.

**Core reliability and reasoning improvements.** Session history is replayed on load for ACP context. MCP connections close on shutdown, and TTY no longer hangs on exit. Completion budget uses remaining context. Empty-string `reasoning_content` is preserved, and Kimi reasoning effort is no longer sent implicitly.

**Shell polish and reliability fixes.** Visual spacing was restored across tool call results, content blocks, and error panels. OAuth token rotation races were resolved, with MCP tokens persisted to `~/.kimi/mcp-oauth/`. Repeated-tool-call reminders escalate and force-stop on a dead-end streak. Plugins can be installed from a `.zip` URL. CVE-2026-25990 was patched by bumping pillow to 12.2.0.
